The collector’s edition of Mortal Kombat 11 costing $299 is a bold move. This is going for $140, but this game won’t attract the attention that Mortal Kombat 11 or Resident Evil 2 will. It also includes the pre-order bonuses, a dynamic theme and some skins. It includes a statue, a set-on patch, pins, decals, steelbook, physical soundtrack and a 48-page Dark Horse comic. This has a good bit of swag for the asking price. Sony also just announced the collector’s edition for Days Gone. Sure it comes with an item box replica, DLC pack card and a few other knickknacks, but the game doesn’t even have a season pass. The Resident Evil 2 Collector’s Edition is also $200 and features a statue of Leon, which is only one half of the two protagonists in the game. The price was in that same range and the game ultimately ended up failing as Bethesda continued to turn away its fanbase.Īs for Capcom, what you netted for $200 with MvC is now getting you much less. Fast forward to Fallout 76 where players were mislead on the quality of the bag included with theirs. The whole collector’s edition movement started going downhill around that point. When players picked up their collector’s edition, the statues were solid, but the Infinity Stones were basically Easter eggs (I did pick this up on clearance a few weeks ago at Best Buy for about $40 and at that price, it’s a steal from a collector’s standpoint). At that time, that was a steep price, but it came with four statues and a set of Infinity Stones that light up. Capcom released Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite with a collector’s edition that cost $200. It’s not the first time the collector’s edition of a game has seemed overpriced. It’s simply hard to justify the contents of this edition being worth the MSRP. The Kollector’s Edition, at $299, includes the Premium Edition with steelcase and Kombat Pass, magnet and the mask along with a storage box. The Premium Edition, which includes the Kombat Pass for MK11 and a steelcase, is retailing for $99. That is flat out outrageous and is continuing to become a problem. Costing as much as a new console, this setup retails for $299. The pricing wasn’t announced at the time, but Gamestop has it up now. It includes a giant Scorpion mask statue. If you watched the Mortal Kombat 11 reveal this week, its collector’s edition was shown off towards the end of the unveiling. Now these prices have gotten a bit out of control. These normally included whatever season pass was tied with the game and a statue or collectible of some sorts.
Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate arrives on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia on November 17.It’s only been a few years since collector’s editions of games cost about $100.
The Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate edition will also allow for free PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades, for those that don’t want to buy it for two different systems.
While sad, because it really does look incredible, it is nice to see Sub get some more love, especially with how incredible the vanilla game’s collector’s edition was.įor those in the EU, or for those that are planning to import, it comes with a 1:1 scale Sub-Zero Mask, a steelcase, exclusive Avalanche Sub-Zero DLC, and the Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate game package as well. tells Game Informer that the below Sub-Zero edition will only be available in the EU and will not be making its way over to the Americas. Also confirmed is a sweet new collector’s (kollector’s*) edition with a Sub-Zero mask that looks stunning. Studios has confirmed that a Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate Edition is on the way and it will include the three new fighters revealed with Mileena, Rambo, and Rain.
